ARGENTINA: Decent growth but doubts about inflation

The government reported that growth in 2006 was 8.5%. Growth in December was 8.1%, the same as it was in November. The impressive growth figure has been overshadowed by a row over the true inflation rate in the country. The worldwide run up in food prices has had an effect on food prices in Argentina, despite the government's efforts to try to glut the market.
